D-Pharm, Diploma in Pharmacy is a two year course. Pharmacy is a Paramedical field involved in the preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes. The course provides the minimum qualification to become a Registered Pharmacist in India and practice the profession of Pharmacy. After completion of D.Pharm, one should complete the respective pharmacy council registration to become a registered pharmacist

Students can study this education course after successfully completing Standard Twelve in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or maths as subjects. The person who has completed D.Pharm can be employed as registered pharmacist in Hospital and Community pharmacies dispensing drugs and pharmaceuticals. It has been made mandatory that at least one person employed in a pharmacy must be a qualified registered pharmacist. After completion of D.Pharm, one should complete the respective pharmacy council registration to become a registered pharmacist. A D.Pharm holder can go for a professional degree (under graduate) course of B.Pharm in India via lateral entry scheme.

Duration of the Course

The duration of the course shall be for two academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.
